The VacuBond® optical bonding process closes the air gap between protective glass and TFT display with the OptαGel and connects both components securely. This does not only improve the readability of the display, since light refraction is reduced and the penetration of dirt and moisture is avoided, but also increases the vibration and shock resistance: The gel buffers the energy from impacts and thus reduces the risk of glass breakage. If the impact is so hard that the glass breaks despite VacuBond®, the gel still minimizes the formation of splinters and thus the risk of injury.
