GLOVE OPERATION THROUGH 4MM PMMA DESPITE THE INFLUENCE OF WATER

In industrial areas, touchscreens are exposed to many challenges. Not only do they have to withstand dirt and moisture , they also have to be easy to operate with gloves, some of which are very thick. The situation is particularly difficult when acrylic glass panes are to be used to protect the touch sensor. A PMMA pane shields the signal from a PCAP touch sensor much more effectively than a pane of glass of the same thickness. Our engineers have dealt intensively with this topic and adapted the touch controller to the situation .

In our video we show a DITO touch sensor with a 4mm thick PMMA protective screen, which can be operated with different gloves even under the direct influence of water. In addition to ESD and leather gloves, we also use the combination of an industrial standard glove and a chain glove, such as is used in meat processing companies. The touch works perfectly in all cases and does not display any false alarms even when it is wet . Optimal water detection means that the water droplets can be precisely distinguished from the actual touch process.
