Why Should I Backup My Files?

Today, March 31st is World Backup Day! On this day each year, we are reminded of the importance for each and every one of us to take some time to create a backup of our important documents and files that we store electronically. This simple task will go a long way in saving you a future headache in the event of data loss.

What is a Data Backup?

When backing up your data, you create a copy or an archive of your important files and information on an electronic device. To create a backup, you want to manually download a new digital copy of your important documents onto a separate device, to be used as a backup and restoration method for lost files.

Why Is Backing Up Files Important?

While technology helps store important information, mistakes, hacks, and technological failures can happen to anyone and at any time, making data backups necessary to protect your documents. Creating a backup puts you ahead if you do suffer from data loss. Millions are affected by file loss each year from ransomware attacks, lost phones, stolen laptops, computer viruses, and more, so be sure you’re protected in case of a problem.

What Data Should I Backup?

In general, you should be backing up anything that can’t be replaced if it’s lost or anything important to you. This may include:

  • Pictures
  • Videos
  • Address books
  • Emails
  • Music files
  • Finances
  • Documents
  • Spreadsheets

If you own a business, there may be more you want to back up, such as customer databases, operating systems, configuration files, blueprints, and other important files.

What Happens To Your Electronics Without Optical Bonding

Have you heard of optical bonding before? Well, those touchscreens and displays you use and view every day are bright and long-lasting thanks to this process.

At Apollo Display Technologies, we are optical bonding experts here to ensure your devices and screens are looking and operating at their best always. Our VacuBond® Vacuum Bonding process is the most advanced form of optical bonding in the industry, and you’re sure to be amazed by the results.

What is Optical Bonding, And Why Is It Necessary?

Optical bonding is a crucial process that involves applying a thin layer of resin to a glass screen or touchscreen, which is then attached to an LCD panel of a monitor. This process is done to secure the two pieces together to form a solid bond. With this secure bond, there will be no air pockets in between the layers.

Without optical bonding, screens wouldn’t be as effective, clear, bright, and durable. Electronics are not only incredibly valuable to anyone’s day-to-day life or a business’s daily operations, but they have become a necessary item to stay in touch with the world around you, making optical bonding a necessary and essential process.

Optical bonding is especially important for devices used by the military, medical, marine, and transportation industries where screens would likely endure heavy lighting, outdoor elements, and other harsh conditions.

Benefits of Optical Bonding

There are many benefits to the optical bonding process. When you use the Apollo Display Technologies VacuBond® Vacuum Bonding process, you’re receiving the best and most advanced in optical bonding. Here are some of those important benefits of this process:

  • Better visuals – One of the best benefits of this process is that internal refraction is eliminated, creating a better and brighter display.
  • Excellent durability – Optical bonding helps devices be stronger and more durable. The cover glass and LCD cells are both better protected from shock from accidental drops.
  • No condensation – Because the optical bonding process eliminates the air gap layer, condensation within the device’s internal components is no longer a worry.
  • Protection from dust and dirt particles – Similarly, with condensation, no tiny dust or dirt particles can enter the device and cause damage.
  • Improved sensitivity to touch – Also, with eliminating the air gap between the layers, the touch screen’s functionality is greatly improved. The touch detection becomes much more accurate, creating an overall better and eligible user experience.
  • Lighter display weight – This process allows the cover glass to be thinner, making for a lighter display that is easier to transport and handle.

The Importance of Fireproof Displays in a Workplace Setting

Monitors, touch screens, and displays in public areas serve passers-by and visitors as an information and guidance system. Such monitors are often located in places that are also designated as escape routes for which special fire protection rules apply, even for monitors. Because of this, here at Apollo Displays Technologies, we create Fireload Optimized Displays that are fireproof and align with all regulations to keep everyone in your building safe in case of an emergency.

Here’s what you need to know about our Fire Optimized Displays:

Exit Safely

Safety should always be a top concern if you own a building. Public areas, which are also marked emergency exit routes within buildings, must be accessible in case of fire. Displays assist in guiding individuals in times of emergency safely to where they need to go, making them a real asset and necessity in any building with lots of people. Our displays are bright and durable, making them perfect for you to help assist in a safe and efficient exit from everyone inside during an emergency.

And when there isn’t an emergency, there are plenty of other benefits to using our displays!

Fire-Resistant

Flammable materials with a high risk of smoke gas development must not be used or installed in your business areas. They can be a serious hazard to everyone if they do catch on fire suddenly as they can release dangerous fumes, smoke, and cause injuries to individuals nearby. Our monitors feature a fireproof protective glass with or without a touchscreen and a stable housing made of sheet steel. They are available as a monitor for external control or with an integrated PC, and each monitor is accompanied by a certificate confirming its fire class.

Regulations

Our monitors are designed to adhere to all fire safety regulations to keep everyone safe. Here at Apollo Displays Technologies, we have created and developed monitors to be as safe as possible and adhere to any and all guidelines. They are available as a monitor for external control or with an integrated PC, and each monitor is accompanied by a certificate confirming its fire class. Monitors from our BLO-Line are available with two different reactions to fire classification levels.

Why Surge Protection For Your Business Electronics is Crucial

If you’ve probably heard before that surge protectors are important, but the statement alone may not have persuaded you to utilize them just yet. Whether you’re protecting your home electronics or the various devices needed at your business, we want to make sure you’re doing what you need to get the most use out of your electronic devices for the longest length of time.

Here are some fundamental reasons as to why you should invest in surge protection for your businesses electronics:

Avoid Damages From Power Surges

What makes power surges so unfortunate and damaging to your electronics is that you never know when they can happen. An essential function of surge protection is right in its name; they protect you from power surges. If there is a lightning storm or for any other reason there is a surge of power, you want to know that your valuable electronics won’t be damaged or destroyed as a result.

Stop Power System Issues

It’s expected that most businesses use consistent electricity in high quantities. For this reason, if your building doesn’t have a proper electricity flow, there will likely be times that fuses will blow, and other electrical problems can occur. With commercial surge protectors, the flow of power will be better regulated, and your circuits will function more reliably.

Ensure Your Day Runs Smoothly

Whether you’re having an event or just going about your daily business operations, the power suddenly going out will be a problem for you. Feel at ease and confident that you and your devices are protected from power surges. If you’re having an event or hosting clients or customers, you want their focus on your products and services and not your electrical issues.

Save Your Business Equipment

We do not doubt that your business relies heavily on electricity for daily operations to run smoothly and efficiently. Without surge protection, you’re putting all of your expensive and needed devices at risk. Whether it’s your computers, monitors, telephones, TVs, alarms, or manufacturing equipment, they can all be destroyed by a sudden lightning strike or surge of power. As well, any important information you have stored on these devices may also be lost.
