What is Optical Bonding?

Do you ever take a moment to appreciate the beautiful, bright screen on your electronic devices that has made your life easier in a multitude of ways? Well, you can thank optical bonding for that!

What is Optical Bonding?

Optical bonding is a crucial process that consists of applying a thin layer of resin to a glass screen or touchscreen, which is then attached to an LCD panel of a monitor. This process is done to secure the two together in order to create a solid bond without any pockets of air in between them.

Screens that have used optical bonding are most commonly used for technology within the military, medical, marine, and transportation industries where screens would likely endure heavy lighting, the outdoor elements, and other harsh conditions.

What Are The Benefits of Optical Bonding?

Having screens that have undergone the optical bonding process have many benefits over other displays:

  • Greater durability – The cover glass and LCD cells are both better protected from shock.
  • Better imaging – Optical bonding eliminates internal refraction creating a better and brighter display.
  • Better touch screen – Optical bonding reduces parallax, and without the air gap, the touch is much more accurate for a natural and reliable experience.
  • Protection from dust and moisture – Dust and moisture are unable to penetrate the glass because of the eliminated air gap.
  • Lighter display weight – The hardened adhesive layer makes for a lighter display that’s easier to handle and transport.

How High Temperatures Can Affect Your Electronics

No one likes feeling overheated, and that goes for electronics too. The summer heat is one of the main culprits to electronic devices overheating, but there are other things you can do that will cause your devices to get too hot. When any electronics are exposed to high heat, they can be severely damaged and become unreliable. Here’s what you need to know to protect your electronic devices:

How do High Temperatures Hurt Electronics?

When it comes to heat and electronics, the hotter the temperature, the less functional the electronic device will be. As well, when electronics run for long periods in high temperatures, the longevity and reliability of that device will decrease.

Cell phones and laptops have all dramatically decreased in size in recent years, making them more vulnerable to damage from overheating. The smaller size of electronics means their systems run with a higher heat density causing them to heat up much faster than ever before. While many companies try to include cooling systems in their products, they aren’t a match for the summer heat outside or the indoors when there is no air conditioning.

How Can I Prevent my Electronics From Overheating?

Here’s what you can do to make sure your electronic devices don’t overheat and get permanently damaged:

  • If there’s no air conditioning, don’t use your phone too much – If the power goes out in your home from a heatwave, playing on your phone might be your first choice of activity, but make sure to give your electronics a break and use them for short periods as they are hot too!
  • Don’t leave your electronics in a hot car – Temperatures inside vehicles can rise to around 20 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the outside temperature.
  • Avoid leaving your devices indirect sunlight – They’ll start to heat up very quickly!
  • Don’t store your device in a cramped area – Good airflow can help prevent overheating.
  • Keep your device and the area it’s stored clean – Dust, hair, and debris can easily clog the device’s vents and cause overheating.
  • If your device feels hot, give it a breakWhen an electronic device starts getting warmer than normal, stop using it and let it cool down with the system shut down.

Ways to Keep Your Computer Setup Clean

While many of us are enjoying or adjusting to our new home work setups, it’s important to remember how now, more than ever, is a great time to brush up on your cleaning habits. You’ll spend a lot of time on your computer, so make sure you’re keeping it neat, tidy, and most importantly, germ-free.

Cleaning Your Computer Monitor

Don’t just reach for the nearest spray cleaner because many of those products are great for windows or countertops but can damage your delicate computer monitor. You can purchase one of the many cleaners specifically designed for monitors or make a cleaner at home. Distilled water with some white vinegar is an easy at home cleaning solution to clean and get rid of any built-up grime on your computer monitors. Only use microfiber cloths, like what you would use when cleaning glasses, to clean your monitor as paper towels, rags, and other materials are too harsh. Make sure the monitor is off before you start cleaning!

Cleaning Your Keyboard

Your hands are all over your keyboard, so make sure to regularly clean it to eliminate any germs or bacteria that are hiding. Start by unplugging the keyboard and turning it over and lightly tapping out any loose crumbs, dust, or debris. Next, use a brush to get through the crevices of your keyboard. A toothbrush, baby bottle brush, and other small, delicate brushes you have at home all do the trick. Canned air is also a great tool to get into those nooks and crannies. To rid your keyboard of germs, use a rubbing alcohol wipe, or a disinfectant wipe and carefully wipe it down.

Maintaining a Neat Desk Space

Keeping your desk clean and tidy will give you peace of mind and help you feel less overwhelmed while you’re hard at work. Some tricks to keep your desk items tidy include:

  • Use velcro to mount items that aren’t being used on the wall or sides of your desk.
  • Upcycle containers to keep like items together, organized, and out of the way.
  • Bundle computer wires together with velcro, zip ties, or hooks to keep them out of the way.
  • Label your items, folders, and drawers.
  • Put items away after their use right away to avoid clutter.
  • Keep a trash bin nearby.
  • Minimize distractions with minimal personal items and only supplies that you use every day.

And don’t forget to use the appropriate disinfectant cleaner for your desktop and wipe it down regularly!

Tips for Successful Summer Digital Signage

The summer weather brings a lot of foot traffic out and about, making the need for outdoor signage more vital than before. Though the traditional print ad might catch a consumer or passerby’s eye, when you strategically place your digital signage, you can not only get the attention of the consumers you are looking for, you have more freedom of the messages you want to project too.

When it comes to your summer signs, here are a few things to always keep in mind:

Consider Foot Traffic

Are your signs easy to see if someone was walking on by? Does your message hold attention? Now is the time to think about where you place your messages and how often you change them. With digital signage, you can easily change your message daily or within minutes if need be, making it great for high traffic areas. You could potentially share a new message to locals every day, without waiting for the printers.

But Be Mindful of the Season

Depending on your location, you’ll want to keep rain and heat in mind. Be sure your signs are not always in direct sunlight. But be sure to pick a place that is adequately covered yet often accessed.

Consider Movement

A static message with bold imagery can help catch eyes, but what about a moving or ever-changing message? Not only will you stand out against the rest, but you are also more likely to get a consumer to stop, read, and possibly come in based on your modern display.

Tips to Protect Your Virtual Investment

No matter the number of digital supplies and signage you add to your company, it’s still an investment, and just like any other major purchase, you want to ensure you get your money’s worth. The best way to ensure you do just that is through proper care, especially when it comes to virtual technology. To avoid spending money on costly repairs, here’s what you should consider when it comes to your virtual purchases:

Invest in Extra Protection

From personal contact to daily wear and tear, your virtual signage can deal with many stressors, making it vital to provide the proper protection it needs to handle the impact. From vacuum bonding to prevent yellowing, to optical bonding to provide extra shock resistance, investing in these protective measures now can keep your investments working as they should for a very long time.

Consider Regular Cleaning

Routine cleanings can remove dirt and debris. Not only is a clean screen more appealing, but it can also prevent scratches and abrasions, that could occur with a dirty screen. Be sure that you are only cleaning with mild soap and drying with a nonabrasive cloth.

Inspect Them Regularly

Any nicks, scratches, or issues should be fixed before they lead to further damage. Be sure to look at your screens regularly to identify any problems that need repair. The smallest nick at the top of the screen can lead to a more significant break or even create an opportunity for air or moisture to get under the screen.

Understanding the Importance of Proper Power Supplies

When it comes to building displays, one of the most vital accessories and components of the whole process is the power supply. Though it’s an essential part of the process, it’s often not treated as such, and can become an afterthought in the consumer’s mind. The wrong choice could lead to performance issues. So as you’re investing in your displays, keep these things in mind when it comes time to order your power supplies

Power Supplies Quality Matters

The power supply you choose will have an impact on how displays perform. That’s why we ensure that all our supplies have been carefully tested to ensure that the performance is not only optimal but that it provides power within the complete temperature range.

Know Your Power Options

You’ll also want to understand the types of power supplies available to you. For starters, an enclosed power supply is highly adaptable, is easy to hookup, and provides overload protection, too. They are a perfect option for a variety of industries and applications.

Led Drivers are power-friendly, and have up to 95% efficiency rating. Their watts and volts range allow for a wide range of applications. Some LED drivers could include energy-saving, and brightness reduction, and all have protection from dust and moisture.

Is Your Technology Ready for Summer Weather?

Touch screens, digital signs, and digital displays, oh my! These business staples can be a great way to gather attention in outdoor spots. However, when it comes to how these technological staples deal with the heat, it all depends on the actions you take as a business owner to take care for them. When it comes to protecting your digital supplies during the summer heat, here’s what to consider:

Always Avoid Direct Sunlight

When it comes to placing your signage, always be mindful of how much sunlight it will be exposed to. Extreme heats can hinder their performance and lead to damage.

Don’t Forget to Power Off

When not in use, shut off your displays and touch screens to give it time to rest. An always going system can produce more heat and has a better chance of overheating or breaking down sooner than it should.

Know the Signs of Overheating

Some signs that overheating might be occurring include hot to the touch machines, fast running fans, slowing performance, sudden crashing, or powering off on its own. If your devices are showing any of these signs, it might be time to consider relocating them.

Is Your Business Ready for Virtual Signage?

When it comes to promoting your business, your marketing message can come in many shapes and forms. From print advertising to digital marketing, there can be various ways to get your business message out to existing and potential customers. When it comes time to promote your message inhouse, one modern and effective way to do so is through virtual signage. Though posters and signs might be the traditional message to fill space and promote sales, upgrading to virtual option is not only cost-effective but aesthetically pleasing, too:

Flexible and Affordable

A virtual sign can be changed at the drop of a hat, without having to go through printers every time. The one-time fee for your new digital signs, in the end, will save you from the amount of times you’ll spend with canva signs, allowing you a limitless amount of messages.

If You Need a More Low Maintenance Approach

There’s no need to take and replace your signage anymore. Digital takes out the physical labor that would come with the past big and bulky signage you were used to. Changing your message can now occur in a matter of seconds without ever breaking a sweat.

More Aesthetically Pleasing

Studies show that consumers are more likely to enter a store or make a purchase based on digital signage. Not to mention, if you have a digital motion sign, and a variety of colors, you’re bound to catch a few more eyes than the traditional static signs of the past.

The Dos and Don’ts of Touch Screens

When it comes to business aesthetics, touch screens are the modern way to show your consumer that you are willing to provide a convenient experience. However, the care you put into these devices can also say a lot about your business.

Without protective measures or proper cleaning, your once shiny new piece of technology can now begin to look broken and warn. To ensure you touch screens are always ready to provide the perfect experience, here are some dos and don’ts to consider:

Don’t Use Paper Towels

Paper towels and facial tissues can scratch your screen. And though these minor abrasions might not be visible at first, continued use will not only dull the screen, but scratches will build up over time.

Do Wipe With Lint-Free Cloth

They are made up of multi fibers that allow dirt to be gripped with ease. Not to mention, these fibers are so small that they will prevent your surface from being scratched. You can use the cloth dry, or slightly dampen it for a deeper clean. If you choose to pair it with a cleaner, be sure it is formulated for touchscreen use.

Don’t Saturate With Water

Though a small amount of water on your micro-fiber cloth or a few sprays of an approved touch screen cleaner is acceptable, keep it minimal. Too much water can lead to permanent damage, so be mindful of how you go about cleaning your screens.

Make the Most of Your Flat Panel Displays

A flat panel display is a wonderful investment, no matter the business. The visually appealing device can help attract consumers, visually improve your business, or add another layer of marketing to utilize. However, without a plan, it can be quite easy to misuse these displays, missing out on their full potential. Here are a few key things to consider:

Make it an Interactive Experience

Many of our monitors can be used as a panel PC, touch screen, or touch panel, allowing you to optimize your consumer’s experience. Multi-touch systems enable users to get the information they need, with a single touch. Our custom designs can help you create the perfect option for you and your business.

Consider Where Your Place Them

Whether you have an interactive touch screen or not. There should always be a strategy behind where and when you use them. High traffic areas, visually appealing spots, and areas in which marketing is missing are all things to consider. The wrong placing could let your message go by the wayside.

Always Keep The Protected

There are a variety of ways to protect your investment, one simple but effective one is through optical bonding. Protecting the glass reduces heat buildup and provides shock resistance too. Those are just some of the benefits. You can also reduce your cleaning time, with no air gaps between the panes of glass, dirt, and dust will not penetrate; neither can moisture preventing fogging too. If you put the money into your displays, go the extra step and be sure they are protected for the long haul.
