EU-Directive 2002/95/EG on reduction of certain hazardous substances of electric and electronic equipment (RoHS directive)
On July 1st, 2006, all manufacturers of electronic and electrical equipment sold in the EC must comply with the ECīs Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC mandating the reduction of six hazardous substances: lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), cadmium, polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE).
As a consequence, Apollo Display Technologies, Corp. is currently converting the complete product portfolio to RoHS-compliant articles. Due to the multitude and variety of customer inquiries we have assembled the following data (see appendix) regarding the directive (2002/95/EC) aiming at the most uniform approach of informing you.
Depending on a large number of component suppliers the schedule for the conversion is partly determined. We plan to finish it by the end of the 1st quarter of 2006. If you wish to be supplied with RoHS compliant products only, prior to this date, we will note this in our ERP system. But please be aware that we might temporarily not be able to deliver due to the dependency on our suppliers.
You can see the actual transition dates for all product groups in our RoHS roadmap. Here you can also find an alphabetical list of all currently compliant articles: RoHS product list. For your orientation the shortform of the article description is also given.
The labelling during the conversion period will be handled as follows: Trading products will not be labelled additionally. Compliant articles are marked "RoHS Hauptlager" on the delivery note. Products developed by Apollo Display Technologies, Corp. (e.g. grafic boards) will be marked "RoHS".
One additional consideration regarding minor product changes due to the conversion to RoHS compliant products. In our trading products as well as in our selfdeveloped products, components will be replaced with compatible parts meeting the RoHS material restrictions. Although the function and specifications of replacement parts will be compatible in comparison with the original parts, the replacement may vary in size, shape, and/or color. For all deliveries we guarantee compatibility in function and mechanics for the green product with its “original”. Due to the large number of changes during our conversion to green products, we will not inform you about irrelevant differences between old and new parts.
EU-Directive (2002/96/EC) on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
All products of Apollo Display Technologies, Corp. are non-autonomous products in the legal sense of the directive and are therefore not affected by it.
We hope to have given you sufficient information on the directives 2002/95/EC and 2002/96/EC.
Kind regards
Apollo Displays
